Halsey R. Hammond scrapbook, 1914-1917.

A scrapbook created by Halsey Reynolds Hammond to document his time as a Penn State student from 1914 to 1917. There are several photographs of campus, including buildings such as Old Main, Botany Building, greenhouses, the Library, and barns. There are also photographs of the surrounding countryside and the football field. Hammond also included photographs of student activities, such as class scraps (Push-Ball, Flag, and Tug-of-War scraps), a track meet, football victory bonfires, cadet units marching, and "molasses and feed" freshmen. The scrapbook also contains a certificate of Hammond's participation on the debating team.

Halsey Reynolds Hammond, of Brooklyn, New York, graduated from Penn State in 1917 with a degree in mechanical engineering. He was a member of the Mechanical Engineering Society, Rifle Club, Anvil Club, Debating Squad, and class soccer while he was a student. Hammond was the nephew of Professor Arthur J.
